The Austin County Special Response Team (SRT) is comprised of members from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville Police Department, Sealy Police Department, Wallis Police Department and Austin County Constable Office Pct 2.
In 2009, the Austin County SRT was created due to the growing demands for a tactical team within Austin County. Due to SRT being a multi-agency tactical team, this benefits all communities and citizens within Austin County.
The Austin County SRT is trained in handling high risk operations, which include search warrants, high risk arrest warrants, barricaded subjects, and special assignments. SRT utilizes special equipment and vehicles to aid them with their mission. All SRT applicants must complete an evaluation / selection process before joining the team.
SRT members must complete a PT/Qualification once a quarter while also maintaining a high level of proficiency with all tactics, weapons, and equipment.
The team is supervised by Team Leaders and Incident Commanders.
